Hillsborough

Recently the 20th Anniversary service of the Hillsborough Disaster took place at a packed Anfield Road. This tragedy resulted in the loss of life of 96 Liverpool Football fans and traumatised thousands of others that were there and indeed many that weren’t at the game on that fateful day on April 15th 1989.

Since Hillsborough we have had The Taylor Report, the main outcome of which was the recommendation that all major football stadiums be converted to all-seater arenas, which has made the stadiums much safer.

We have had countless articles on the subject of the Disaster with the majority being supportive in the quest for Justice for The 96. However there has also been some scandalous press, TV and radio coverage of the Disaster which has developed over the years. Indeed it only took four days after the events at Hillsborough for THE SUN to come up with their infamous headline “THE TRUTH”

Quite a few of our members may not even have been born on that day while I’m sure quite a few more were also too young to remember the events at Hillsborough in 1989. The Links below are short summaries of what happened that day and in the aftermath of the tragedy and explains why THE SUN Newspaper is still being boycotted by Liverpool fans to this very day.
