The Reds will face either Macedonian side Rabotnicki or Armenian outfit Mika following the draw in Nyon.

Rabotnicki are currently in pole position to face Liverpool after winning the first leg of their second qualifying round 1-0 at home.

The two-legged encounter will take place on 29th July and 5th August with the first leg representing new boss Roy Hodgson’s first competitive game in charge.

Tickets for Jamie Carragher’s Liverpool XI v Everton XI testimonial go on sale to all supporters on Friday.

The Anfield match on Saturday, September 4 will celebrate Carragher’s illustrious career to date and raise cash for Merseyside children’s charities.

The likes Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Dietmar Hamann, Jamie Redknapp and Michael Owen are due to take part, with all profits going to good causes via the 23 Foundation.

Current Blues boss David Moyes is set to manage the Everton XI.

We are having a social night in the Cavern, Letterkenny on Saturday, 10th of July to watch the 3rd/4th place World Cup tie. We will be gathering from 6pm upstairs in the Cavern.

Joey McLaughlin finished top of the pack with 27 correct.

Megan Strain came 2nd with 26 points.

Brian Kelly just beat John Quinn to 3rd place, thanks to a higher number of correct draws guessed!

We’ve reached the final stages of the competition….only 4 fixtures remain and it remains tense at the top. Megan is still sitting pretty in pole position, with Joey now two points behind! Megan has got 9/11 in the last run of matches…let down only by Cameroon and Denmark yesterday…(interestingly, only 9 people out of the 75 managed to get 1 point from either of those games!!)

There are 4 people currently in 3rd place, with 12 people only one behind those….the number of correct draws guessed correctly will be crucial when determining the winners…

In the event of a crazy tie for second / third place, I will contact those in the running to see if they want to split the €100/€50 prizes or if they want to submit results for a select amount of matches in the next round to see who gets the cash. (I would propose that the fixtures be selected from Monday onwards to allow people time to submit over the weekend. ) In the interest of fairness, I think this would have to be a unanimous decision amongst those in the running. If I don’t hear from people, then I’ll assume they want their prize money!

I may not have a full table published until Monday again BUT the list of those at the top (and very bottom) will be provided tomorrow evening. Nothing will be announced until the entries are all verified again to the original applications. (Can’t wait…!) Thankfully, only one error has been detected throughout the competition, so hopefully this will be an unnecessary check!

His, eh, interesting tactic of guessing 48 draws is reaping dividends because he’s currently in line to take the €20 wooden spoon prize….no doubt he’s proud as punch at this tremendous feat! Our long-serving committee member, Mr. David McIlwaine, celebrated a very special birthday on Saturday night in the Station House Hotel, Letterkenny. A few of the supporters club were delighted to attend and everyone had a lovely evening, thanks David!!

Our only hope is that the video evidence of the end of the night’s YNWA ‘sway’ never get publicised!!!

The cake was a work of art and tasted every bit as good as it looked!
